Telluride Vibes – A Gondola Mountain Story
Published On: April 29, 2026

Telluride, Colorado
Inspired by a late‑summer escape that still feels alive.
Telluride isn’t just a mountain town; it’s a gondola mountain town. This free eco‑friendly gondola links historic Telluride with the modern Mountain Village in a 12‑minute ride that’s equal parts transportation and scenic thrill. It’s the only public system of its kind in the U.S.A powered entirely by wind energy.
Whether you’re heading to dinner, hiking trails, or simply soaking in the alpine views, the gondola adds a layer of magic to every moment. You’re not just going from point A to B you’re floating above the San Juan Mountains with 360° views stretching all the way to Utah.
Bonus: In summer, gondolas come equipped with bike racks. In winter, they swap in ski racks. And yes, your dog can ride too!
Summer Vibes: Sun, Trails & Sky Chariots
I visited Telluride in the summer and let me tell you it’s a FUBIOV! dream. The gondola becomes your personal sky chariot to hiking trails, mountain biking routes, and open‑air festivals. The town buzzes with laid‑back luxury, and the gondola keeps everything seamless, scenic, and effortlessly fun
Winter Wonderland: Powder, Excitement & Après Magic
Come winter, Telluride flips the script. The same gondola becomes your gateway to world‑class skiing, snowboarding, and après‑ski indulgence. The vibe shifts from sun‑soaked adventure to snow‑drenched decadence, complete with hot toddies, powder runs, and cozy cabins.
And here’s what’s truly unique: refurbished gondola cabins, placed throughout Mountain Village, are painted by local artists and transformed into heated, cozy hangouts. Cushioned seats, ambient lighting, glowing hotels all around — it becomes a winter fantasyland where you can sip, snack, and soak in the alpine atmosphere from your own private gondola lounge.

FUBIOV! Moments
- Ultimate FUBIOV! moment: Reaching the top of the mountain and feeling an instant, powerful connection with nature.
- What did you splurge on and was it worth it? Restaurants! Telluride isn’t inexpensive, but the food is excellent and absolutely worth the indulgence. tossing the budget aside for fine dining felt perfectly FUBIOV!.
- What made you say Forget You Buddy I’m On Vacation? Dining is a huge part of Telluride, especially in summer. Riding the gondola down to town and wandering into your next adventure felt magical. A mushroom festival was happening while we were there where people hike into the mountains, bringing back nature’s best, and sold them in town. Wild outfits everywhere. Nothing like my hometown.
Fun & Indulgence:
- Top 3 things you did for fun: Eat, ride the gondola, and wander the village with plenty of delicious dining along the way. Beautiful hiking and biking trails are everywhere.
- Best meal or drink: Brown Dog Pizza. Yes, named after the owner’s Lab. I love pizza and this one did not disappoint.
- Favorite place to relax: The gondola itself. Something about floating through the mountains — even in the rain — felt incredibly relaxing and rejuvenating. Watching the elk on the mountain below was a fun bonus
- Local treats or souvenirs? Not this time. We have too much stuff already!
Visuals:

Ratings:
- FUBIOV! Rating: 4/5
- Would you go back? Yes, especially in winter for a totally different experience.
- Recommend to other FUBIOV! travelers? Absolutely. And I’ll post again after my winter visit.
Travel Tips:
- One thing you wish you knew: The altitude. Its 8,754 feet and it took a day to adjust. I’m in great shape, but day one was still a little strenuous. My wife felt fine, so it affects everyone differently. Be prepared just in case. Oxygen canisters are available should you need it.
- Must‑see or must‑do: The gondola. It truly defines the town. And in summer, the ski slopes transform into mountain biking trails.
- What would you do differently next time? Honestly, nothing. I’d repeat the same relaxing, nature‑filled summer trip. Maybe I’d splurge on one of the highly rated hotels in the village — after all, it’s about living the carefree opulent FUBIOV! attitude.
